According to recent reports, the owner of a Chinese electronics factory where several employees have committed suicide is increasing wages by 20 per cent.
Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology owns the factory in the Chinese city of Shenzen where local media had questioned working conditions.
Foxconn made Friday’s announcement in a bid to try and raise morale. It came the day after another suspected took place at the plant Thursday. The tenth suicide there this year.
The plant makes electronics for companies including Apple, Dell, Nokia and Sony
Foxconn has promised to do more to prevent further deaths.
The Epoch Times has taken a closer look into the circumstances of the suicides.

A man from China’s Yunnan Province says by sensing vibrations in his acupuncture points he is able to tell when an earthquake is going to happen. physical sensations.
Of the 12 predictions he made for quakes between March and May 10 of them were correct. He even got the magnitude right for two of them.
According to an internet report the man could predict the time of the quakes one to two days before they happened, but not the exact location.

Nepal’s political deadlock has come to an end; for the moment at least. An agreement to extend the current parliament was reached just before it was due to expire.
Political opponents agreed on the extension so parliament would have time to finish drawing up a new constitution. But as part of the deal the prime minister has agreed to demands from the Maoist party that he resign.
Earlier in May the Maoist party brought Nepal to a virtual standstill with a six-day strike aimed at forcing the government to resign.

Pakistan has said militants with ties to the Pakistani Taliban carried out Friday’s deadly attacks in Lahore.
Police said the attackers were terrorists from Waziristan. The Pakistani Taliban group maintain a strong presence in this tribal region of Pakistan.
On Friday morning, attackers with bombs and firearms targeted houses of worship in Lahore belonging to the Ahmadi sect, a persecuted religious group. Officials said Saturday the death toll stood at 98 and dozens more were wounded in the attacks.

Thailand has lifted the curfew that has been in effect across a large part of the country. But there are no plans on revoking emergency rule.
Almost 90 were killed during eight weeks of protests by the red shirt supporters of ousted former premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Thaksin has been accused of masterminding the demonstrations and preventing a peaceful resolution from being found.
Thailand’s prime minister said the demonstrations had gone on for too long, so it would now be hard to hold elections this year.
The red shirts were demanding a snap election as they consider the current government elitist and undemocratic.

Air travellers in South Asia are on the move again after Air India resumed flight services across the country Friday.
Even though the strike ended Wednesday, passengers endured two more days of waiting as the airline worked on clearing the flight backlog.
The two-day strike by 15,000 employees affected about 13,000 domestic and international passengers as 140 flights were either diverted or cancelled.
The strike was called off after the Delhi High Court gave an order saying it is illegal.
