Sources from Anhui province report that in the name of building a new village, some of the village and township communist cadres in Fengtai town, forced the farmers to sell their land in a suspect realty scheme.
According to Sun Press on October 12, some farmers who lost their land cannot obtain any basic subsidies, and have become homeless. The price of less than 20,000 Yuan per 0.1644 acres, given through the underhand development scheme, was below market value.

Guangxi sources report that according to farmers from Hesan village, Chengjian town, the local miners are engaged in illegal mining, gravely endangering others’ lives, and this has led to a mass protest by local residents.
Radio Free Asia reports that the price of ore has been skyrocketing in recent years. A number of miners illegally extract the ore to profiteer, not only destroying fields but also disregarding safety measures which threatens the life and safety of surrounding inhabitants.

Epoch Times. Epoch Times. A Beijing Lawyer, Mr Xu Zhiyong, told Radio Free Asia (RFA) on October 13 that at least ten lawyers have decided to take the tainted-milk cases to court, which goes against the Chinese regime’s decision to discourage lawyers from doing so.
It is unclear whether the regime will have any new policy to suppress the lawyers’ actions.
Mr Zeng Zhu, a Chinese activist commented, “The quest to find the social and political cause of the tainted-milk scandal has been suppressed. This has shown that the root cause of the tainted-milk scandal is actually the current totalitarian regime.”

Epoch Times. Epoch Times. In continuing the criminal practice of stealing organs from Falun Gong practitioners and others, the Chinese medical establishment are increasingly alienating themselves. That was the consensus at an Istanbul summit of more than 150 representatives of: scientific and medical bodies from 78 countries, government officials, social scientists, and ethicists.
Global unease has continued to grow following continued denial by the regime, even though it is very clear that the Kilgour–Matas report cites 41,500 unexplained organ transplants from 2000 to 2005 — the six-year period since the persecution of Falun Gong began — that do not come from executed prisoners, the brain-dead, or family donors.

Epoch Times. Epoch Times. In assessing the string of disasters that are hampering Chinese economic and political stability, China critics are pointing the finger at one source: moral decline due to the fearful control of people by the state.
Dr Wang Weiluo, a specialist in Planning Science in Architecture and Civil Engineering at University of Dortmund in Germany, thinks the fake and tainted products in industries across China reveal that Chinese society is morally bankrupt.
In illustrating his point, Dr Wang pointed to the numerous people who had oversight of the school construction in Sichuan, and yet did nothing to prevent the construction of sub standard schools in a region prone to regular earthquakes.

In a televised national address on Tuesday, Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd outlined his proposals for an economic stimulus. In spending half of the government’s budget surplus, AU$10.4 billion, Mr Rudd hopes to stall the full effects of the global crisis on Australia.
Following Wall Street’s 11 per cent rise on Monday, confidence appears to be rising again in the global economic system. Global co-operation and action to stabilise markets worldwide is having a positive effect. The US government’s decision to act with a US$700 billion rescue has helped calm fears.
In Japan, the Nikkei index rose 14.15 per cent and worldwide markets have rallied, in what many will sincerely hope is a trend towards greater stability.
