Reported by Reuters, Shichuan Du river weir police on June 21st arrested and beat several parents of the students who died in the earthquake and were protesting outside the public government building.

Protesters requested that an enquiry be made to as why the school building collapsed in the earthquake.

One parent surnamed Hu whose daughter was killed under the earthquake said to Reuter’s reporter; the police have arrested 8 representatives of the parents.

The other parent surnamed Yang witnessed and said, he saw the police beating some of the parents, at least 3 parents were arrested by the policeman.

News in Canton, forged notes have been made and sold in Canton for a long period of time.

Cantonese Police declared, since last year, they have detected and discovered forged notes totalling 600 million RBM.

They have arrested 220 suspects and discovered several international cases with an abundance of forged bills being produced.

But they don’t deny that some of the forged notes have made their way into Hong Kong and Macau.

The Beijing Olympic torch relay began its Tibetan leg under tight security at Luobulinka, a traditional square where Tibetan mountaineer Googbu held the flame aloft.

Chinese Communist Party officials in charge of restive Tibet used the passing of the Olympic torch relay through the capital Lhasa on Saturday to defend their control and denounce the exiled Dalai Lama.

The torch procession ended under tight security below the towering Potala palace after having been run for just over two hours before a carefully-selected crowd, some three months after the region was convulsed by bloody anti-Chinese protests.

A man accused of attacking a Falun Gong practitioner in New York was arrested by police in Flushing today and taken to the NYPD’s 68th Precinct station in Brooklyn.

Wei Qiu, accused of assaulting John Yu, a Falun Gong practitioner, with a metal steering wheel lock in Brooklyn on June 15, was arrested in Queens while distributing anti-Falun Gong flyers written in Chinese. He was wearing a hardhat and a vest displaying hate slogans against Falun Gong.

Several hundred Tibetan refugees and their supporters, who were protesting against China’s policies in Tibet, have been arrested.
Protesters called the Olympic torch the flame of shame and they wanted to mount an especially big rally in Kathmandu to coincide with the torch’s procession through Lhasa.

But their protest near the Chinese consular building was immediately broken up by the police.

Tibetan exiles said more than 700 were detained, including at least 60 who were picked up before the demonstration even started.

Thai Prime Minister Samak will not resign, a spokesman said on Saturday as thousands of protesters besieged his office, vowing to stay until they forced the government from power.

“It’s impossible that Prime Minister Samak will resign,” said spokesman for the People Power Party (PPP) that leads a six-party coalition whose election in December was hoped to restore political stability two years after a coup.
