Zimbabwe’s opposition claimed victory on Sunday based on early results from an election in which it is trying to unseat President Robert Mugabe after 28 years of power and end an economic collapse.
Tendai Biti, secretary general of the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), told reporters, diplomats and observers at a briefing that this is a historic moment for Zimbabwe.
The opposition, headed by former trade unionist Morgan Tsangaris, has accused 84-year-old Mugabe of employing election-rigging tactics in an attempt to stay in power and African observers say they detected fraud in Saturday’s ballot.

Today marks the last show in Melbourne, Australia, the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular has been getting rave reviews and standing praise.
Shop owners Elizabeth and Robert Conway bought their tickets to Saturday evenings’ Chinese Spectacular after a Chinese customer of theirs came in and personally told them about the show.
The couple enjoyed everything about the performances, and felt there was a clear message that “gets out.”
Having read about Buddhist religions, Mrs Conway said she could understand and relate to the meaning behind each performance “but to actually know the dance, the culture of the dance, she hadn’t known the dance actually epitomises their spirituality, that it’s different to ballet.
