In Hungry a deadly heatwave which has seen record temperatures kill at least 500 people in the country in the past week.Temperatures have soared across much of central and southern Europe in recent days, sparking forest fires and causing heat exhaustion across the region.

Hungarian authorities say the toll could have been much higher, were it not for the hard work of health workers.

Talks over the fate of 23 South Korean hostages held in Afghanistan are at a crucial point, after the latest deadline for their lives passed. The Taliban says.

The Islamic militants gave a list of eight jailed rebels to the government whom it wants released, and said it would free the same number of the Korean Christian aid workers in exchange.
The development came as the Taliban said that a German captive who was abducted separately from the Koreans was very sick and was drifting in and out of consciousness.

The rebels remnants of the hardline regime toppled by US-led troops in 2001, have already given two 24-hour extensions.

Nelson Mandela has ended his 89th birthday celebrations by watching a soccer match played in his honour in Cape Town.

Mandela watched the match from the comfort of his living room in Johannesburg.

The match dubbed “90 Minutes for Mandela” was played between Africa and the Rest of the World and ended in a 3-3 draw.

The aim of the match was to raise money for Mandela’s foundation in its the fight against HIV/AIDS.

On July 23, nearly 400 Petitioners appealed for justice in front of Beijing Government.

Beijing rights activists Ye Guoqiang, Wang Ling and Qian Guoliang who were forced to give up their lands to the government for the 2008 Olympic Games, also went to the appeal.

They condemned Chinese Communist Regime¡¯s suppression of human rights and tried to get their lands back.

On June 29, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Feng Guirong and some family members were illegally arrested and taken by police from Jilin City to the Beijing police station.

They beat Ms. Feng and force-fed her with three to four bottles of mustard oil.

As a result, Ms. Feng’s mouth was completely deformed, and she was not able to walk or sit properly.

She is now being held at Jilin City Detention Center.

Top Generals from North and South Korea worked to make progress on a long-running border dispute at a second day of high-level talks.

Discussions on Tuesday ended early, after North Korea restated its demand that a sea border west of the Korean Peninsula be redrawn futher south.

The area lies in rich fishing grounds and has been the scene of bloody naval clashes in the past.
